Why Cannon

Why Cannon

41 years, one organization, one set of standards

Founded in Milton, Washington in 1985 and part of the Bristol Bay Industrial family since 2020, Cannon is measured by a safety experience factor more than 30 percent below the baseline. What a federal prime, agency, utility or carrier gets is one organization that can engineer, drill, build, splice, energize and restore, across the western United States and on installations nationwide, rather than a general contractor assembling that from a tier of subcontractors.

Who we work for

Built for the owners and primes who buy infrastructure

Cannon's clients are federal prime contractors and the Department of Defense and civilian agencies behind them, investor owned utilities and public utility districts, municipalities and school districts, tribal governments, and carriers and network owners such as Comcast, Zayo, Crown Castle, Astound and Intermountain Infrastructure Group. The work is awarded on master service agreements, repeat direct awards and long running programs, and most of it comes back year after year.

Where the work is

Headquartered in Milton, Washington, with offices in Seattle, JBLM, Kalama and Winthrop, a regional hub in Gilbert, Arizona, an office in California and a satellite office in Utah. Licensed in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho and Montana with more than twelve states of licensure across the organization, and badged crews on federal installations from Alaska to Florida and across the Pacific, including Hawaii, Guam and Kwajalein.

Programs that renew and awards that repeat

Repeat direct awards in public power

Clallam County PUD and Snohomish County PUD both awarded 115kV work directly in 2026, following the Race Street to Liberty Street rebuild for Clallam in 2023. Seattle City Light joint use since 2016 with a pole replacement program alongside it since 2019, and City of Milton municipal electrical work held as prime.

Safety, quality, integrity, teamwork

Four hallmarks, measured by the people who buy the work

Safety is the first hallmark and the one the others rest on. Cannon's Washington L&I experience factor is 0.6947 (effective January 1, 2026); the NCCI rate outside Washington is 1.00. Every employee holds stop work authority, every task starts with a job briefing, and the program is audited continuously through ISNetworld, Avetta and Highwire. Read more on the safety page.

Quality is checked before the work starts, while it is in progress and on the way to turnover, and documented in systems the owner can see. The quality and information security page describes how.

One labor relationship across the territory

Cannon is signatory to the Northwest Line Constructors Chapter NECA outside line agreement covering IBEW Locals 77, 125, 483, 659 and 1245, so an owner holds one labor relationship from Washington through Oregon, Idaho, Montana and California.
